JUSTIFIED BY FAITH
ROMANS 5:1-5
1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: 2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; 4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope: 5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
- We are justified by faith v.1a Galatians 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified
- We have peace with God v.1b Ephesians 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
- We have access by faith v.2a Ephesians 3:12 In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.
- We rejoice in hope v.2b Titus 2:13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ;
- We glory in tribulations (suffering) v.3 James 1:2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
- Suffering leads to patience/perseverance James 1:3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
- Patience brings experience/strength of character v.4a James 1:4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
- Strength of character leads to hope v.4b 2 Corinthians 4:17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;
- We are not ashamed v.5 2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
